Orthopedic Acupuncture
We use acupuncture as an adjunct to the Activator adjustment to treat pain associated with orthopedic problems that relate to muscles and joints. Clinically we have been using acupuncture this way for over 20 years.
Once soft tissue structures become irritated, joint motion can become compromised. Activator adjustment of a joint is a terrific method to restore joint motion. But the pain coming from the soft tissue structures (muscles, ligaments and tendons) can cause the motion of the joint to be again compromised, necessitating repeated trips to the chiropractor to normalize the joint motion.
We have found that the insertion of acupuncture wires into tight muscles, trigger points, ligaments and tendons appears not only to decrease pain when other methods often fail, but allows the motion of the joint to be maintained for a longer time.
The net effect is that the chiropractic treatment is greatly enhanced by the acupuncture treatment. People report that their pain is relieved much faster and their ability to start physical therapy is much quicker making for a return to normal activity of daily living in the shortest time possible.
